About this item
T Workbasket designed a square envelope to hold friendship notes, inspired from the early 1800's Netherlands custom of creating a lovely box to hold notes and poems. She has combined it with the French custom of Postal Art, stitched envelopes that were actually mailed through the post, using real stamps. (Theresa Wood send me one of these linen envelopes through the mail so it would have the inked postmark on the linen and I was astounded by it. It's in my treasure box.) This 12 x 12 envelope keeper is beautiful. Stitched on Week's 35ct Parchment Linen, with dusky, softly faded shades of Belle Soie hand-dyed silks (DMC equivalents are noted), the design is on the bias . When you fold the corners in and finish this, you'll have a wonderful two sided envelope. The front design includes the stamp (the bunny in the upper right-hand corner.), and The Address, To a Friend's House. The Quaker motifs on the left-hand edge are revealed to be the tops to a heart when you look at the back of the envelope. On the backside, you'll find the envelope flap, decorated with a valentine and antique buttons you might have in your stash. Offered as the chart. This is a functional envelope and a place where you can put your special cards and notes from friends.
