About this item
This needle and scissors case is in the shape of a hornbook. Hornbooks were used by school children in both Europe and in America from the mid-15th to about the 18th century when they were learning letters and beginning to read.
The model was cross-stitched over one linen thread on 32-count Chestnut linen from Wichelt Imports, Inc. using overdyed threads from Weeks Dye Works. Wool felt from Weeks Dye Works was used for assembly. Stitches used: cross stitch over one linen thread, backstitch, blanket stitch, and nun's stitch. Stitching directions, charts, stitch diagrams, and detailed assembly instructions are in this package.
