Events Jane Timmers April 9-11 2010, Join us for Part 2...More Finer Points of Finishing.. In this class students will continue to expand their repertoire of finishing techniques by making a set project that features hands-on techniques not previously covered in Part I, plus expanded text covering these techniques. The project is a new set of accessories based on a design theme of quilt stars stitched on linen in primitive colors. The set includes a lined rectangular box, a small case with needle page and scissors pocket, a sandwich pinkeep, a tape measure pocket and scissor fob. The finishing techniques covered are: Folded book finish with slipstitch join, sandwich pinkeep, lining a rectangular/square box, scissors fob (Laced backstitch) and Sewn Pocket. The cost of the 2 day weekend, including kit and lunches is $250.00 Stitcher's Spring Retreat May 7-9, 2010...Join us for a fun filled weekend of stitching at the beach. Bring your UFO's to finish, share ideas, or to just stitch all weekend without any interruptions. This weekend is dedicated strictly to stitching!!! The total cost for the weekend is $194.00 based on double occupancy. Accommodations will be at The Lankford Hotel located on 8th Street and the Boardwalk (Salty Yarns is located in the hotel). The weekend includes a welcoming reception on Friday night, a "goodie bag" and a continental breakfast each morning. Lauren Sauer Class June 11-13 2010...Join us for our 6th annual Lauren Sauer Class. This year we will again be working on Reddeworke Drawstring "Beach" Bag This is a pre-worked classe, so if you are interested in taking this class you need to alert us as soon as possible. Lauren's techniques for finishing these pieces is impeccable and the joy of this class is that you will be taking home finished projects. Kit includes: Linen, threads, fibers, ribbon, needles, finishing materials, charts, and instructions. Bring light magnification if needed As these are pre-stitch projects you need to let us know asap if you intend to take this class. Ocean City Stitcher's Jamboree Oct. 8-10,2010....Come join us in Ocean City, Md., and take advantage of one of the favorite getaway spots on the Atlantic Ocean. Lodging will be provided by the Lankford Hotel, located directly on the boardwalk (8th and the Boardwalk). Just imagine an entire weekend with fellow stitchers and wonderful designers. Featured Designers Louise Henderson...Cherished Stitches...Louise will be demonstrating her technique in finishing on a design of her own creation, Pretty in Pink Etui. Jackie DuPlessis...Jackie is not only a designer, but an accomplished finisher and she will be teaching the stitchers her technique for finishing. Marcy Pumphret...Sara and I had so much fine taking this class we decided to bring it to our Jamboree. Marcy is the artist who does most of the scrimshaw pieces you see. The work is so tiny and intricate but under her direction you will actually do your own scrimshaw on ivory piano keys which she supplies. Don't worry about talent here stitchers, you don't have to be an accomplished artist as she will guide you through the process. It's a fun class and you will be amazed at how well you do.
