Maria Teresa Pincushion Doll..............GPA

Giulia's latest pin cushion doll is as fabulous or more so really than all the others.  This doll is carrying a purse with a silver purse frame and the half doll from Half Dolls Malta is exquisite. She is also offering special pin sets just for this Doll.   I have stitched 2 of Giulia's dolls so far and the found the stitching is easy and uncomplicated.  She gives complete finishing directions, with pictures, so you should have no problem with that and everything is in English.  Maria Teresa would make the most fabulous pin cushion ever!

Stitched on 28 ct. Cashel Truffle from Picture This Plus, using Valdani silk.  There are also Mill Hill Royal Pearl Antique Seed Beads used.

Flag of Glory Needle Book...................Chessie & Me

Patriotism is alive and was blooming at the Nashville market this year and Linda has given us a great Patriotic set in "Flag of Glory Needle Book."  I love that her flag stripes feature a variety of specialty stitches giving the piece texture and interest beyond the design.  4 small pieces to stitch, the needle book cover, a needle leaf for inside the needle book, pyn roll panel and the fob.  Makes for a fun stitch.  Stitched on 32 ct. Weeks tin roof linen using Sampler Threads:freedom, mulberry, mustard seed, shaker white, and tin bucket.

Also needed: Weeks wool-Deep Sea Houndstooth

Grant House 1865 Sampler....................Chessie & Me

Linda is continuing her patriotic theme with Grant House and with this sampler she gives you an opportunity to use sections for other things, for instance needlebooks, scissor fobs, pin cushions, oh the ideas are just flowing.  Whenever a designer blocks off sections my mind turns to other ways to use the design.  Just because they show it as a framed sampler does not mean you have to use it that way.  Anyway, Linda stitched this on 32 ct. Weeks confederate grey linen using both Sampler threads and Weeks.  There is over one stitching in this piece.  Approx. design size is 5.25" x 9"

Delaware House Stitch Book...................Chessie & Me

I Love these book boxes that Linda designs.  I've done a couple and it's easy to finish and easy to stitch. You have 3 pieces to stitch, the outside cover, a inside lid piece and the fob.   Delaware is close to my heart because she taught this at the Delaware Sampler Guild and I happen to be a member of that guild and many of their members are friends of the shop.  Finishing the book boxes is simple enough and mounting the stitching is easy enough so grab your linen and get started.  And what a wonderful way to store your supplies as it can hold scissors, needles, fibers, a tape measure, etc.    Delaware House is stitched on 36 ct. Vintage Meadow Rue from Lakeside using Weeks Dye Works floss, bullfrog, dolphin, grasshopper, Havana, mascara, red rocks, schneckley, swampwater and teal frost.

You will need a piece of weeks wool to put under the design for mounting, Chestnut Houndstooth  is used here.

Gathering of Sheep..............................Chessie & Me

This was a fun stitch for me when I received it as part of a club.  It introduced me to finishing on the tote and started a love affair with using designs on the tool caddy.  But Gathering of Sheep was my first and therefore my all time favorite tool caddy design, and sits on my coffee table so it's handy when I need another needle, scissors, tape measure, etc.  It can hold many things.  The design on the tool caddy is so cute with Linda's sheep standing at attention keeping an eye on you as you stitch and it features her satin stitched grassy hills which are fun and fast.  In fact this design really only take a few days to stitch...all over two threads, and a few specialty stitches thrown in for interest.  There are three pieces to stitch, the tool caddy, needlebook (and this is one of the largest I've ever stitched) and a fob.     You'll also need some Weeks Kohl Houndstooth Wool for mounting and backing.
Friendship Garden......................Chessie & Me

Friendship Garden......................Chessie & Me

Friendship Garden is the perfect piece to give to a stitching friend.   "Friends are the gardeners who make our souls blossom." is the verse, with a chessie and me house, flowers and a large green yard! After reading the verse I thought this would make a wonderful gift be for a stitching friend.  Stitched on Weeks 32ct Parchment Linen using Sampler threads: carriage black, loganberry, mountain mist, mustard seed, old purple paint and Weeks Dye Works: bullfrog, grasshopper, and tin roof.  I love the tray as the frame for it and how useful will that be.  It can hold your floss, scissors, glasses, etc. for you as you stitch.  Design size is approx 5" x 8" so it fits the Doodlin' Around Tray perfectly.

American Stag Kit............................Chessie & Me

American Stag is Linda's semi-annual mini-kit.  Following the patriotic theme this year, there is a peaceful cabin with a flag flying across the sky making it very patriotic.  There's quite a bit going on here for such a small design, and I love it.   Finishes approx. 3" x 4" and contains everything you need, 36 ct. Vintage woodsmoke linen from  Lakeside Linens, with both Weeks and Gentle Arts floss included.   As with all of Linda's designs you will find a couple of specialty stitches, Satin Stitches, long arm crosses, 4 sided stitch, Smyrna crosses and some tent stitch.

Liberty's Welcome................Plum Street

This is a wow piece....it's really large for Plum Street, finishing approx. 19" x 12" on 36 ct. Ligonier Latte by R & R.  You really need to study it a while to see everything it contains....like the American Eagle holding the arrows, etc, the flag bunting on the horse drawn coach (I actually missed that first look I was so busy studying the sky.)  The border is lovely, the house is beautiful done in dapple grey, I love the 2 flags depicting the first I assume and todays.  I'm not normally a border person, but this is a gorgeous border.  The colors she has picked to stitch with are lovely and go together so well.  If you are a stitcher of patriotic pieces, this really is a must have. Paulette says this goes with her Yuletide and Ghoultide Welcomes.

Needlepoint, Inc. fibers: Sea Green, (159), Blue Green (641), Dapple Gray (965), Taupe (981), Brick (124), Palomino Gold (694), White (991BB), Russet Red (207), Williamsburg Blue (325),  Russet Red Range (202), Mouse Gray (975), Palomino Gold (693), Meadow Green (348), Burnt Umber (584), Russet Red Range (205), Brick (126)

Paulette was inspired to create French Woolens from her love of French linen tea towels and wooly sheep.  She has included an alphabet chart to assist you in personalizing the sampler.  I love that the shepherdess is wearing a dress to match the striped sheep...so cute!  Stitched on 36 ct. Vintage Examplar using Gentle Art's (wood smoke, toasted barley, oatmeal, freedom, endive, dark chocolate, country redwood, wood trail, soot, cherry bark) and Classic Colorworks (hickory sticks, stepping stones) fibers.  The finished size is approx. 5" x 6.25".

This is an original design from Simona Bussiglieri and just one of several we picked up in Nashville, each one more fabulous than the last.  Sunflower cottage is so summer with bees buzzing, and sunflowers in full bloom.  She stitched the design on 32 ct. beige from Weeks Dye Works and used their threads as well.  For finishing she used Weeks Dye Works Houndstooth Wool in Lancaster Red and had adorable hand painted wood buttons, a hand painted bobbin set and sunflower pin sets made to go with the piece which she shows in Lone Elm Lane's Black Queen Crown Box. This will be a treasured heirloom in your collection.

Nancy Alden, 1795 .................Linda Stolz

Linda stumbled across the original tablet format sampler one day at her local frame shop – and was delighted when the owner allowed her to reproduce it. That bird in the lower corner really grabbed her attention, but the entire sampler is wonderful. It's likely English, although we don't know much about Nancy Alden at this point. Mostly worked in cross stitches, there are also eyelets and a few bullion knots, with the Lord's Prayer and Apostle's Creed worked over one thread.  If the large amount of over-one stitching seems a bit much for you, Linda also charted the Lord's Prayer over two threads so it fills both tablet sections. It's still completely in character with the original and makes a nice alternative stitch.

Princessa and the Pea.................Jackie du Plessis of It's Fine-ally Finished

This is a class piece...Jackie will be here September 9-11, 2016,  to teach two classes and Princessa and the Pea will be one of them.
When you hear the words “Princess” and “Pea” you immediately think of the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale called “Princess and the Pea”.  This beloved fairy tale evokes thoughts of stacking mattresses a princess and hidden treasures.  I wanted to create a collection of functional and stylish objects that reflect our time.  This project is centered around a Pea Pod theme and explores different mediums such as paper, paint, linen, wool and silks.

The “Princessa and the Pea” is a collection of three stacking paper Mache boxes, painted and waxed in class.  These three boxes each with a theme is stack, one on top of the other, and represent three green peas.  A silk fabric pea pod case snugly holds the three pea boxes together.  Tendrils with button flowers made of paper, wool and ribbons cascade down from the soft, scalloped woolen needle page leaves.

Each of the pea boxes stores a theme:
The top box: Rock - a tiny Jade bead sits upon stacking pillows next to a tiny tiara.
The middle box: Paper and all treasures made with paper.
The bottom box: Scissors.

Note that the buttons are attached in sets of three, representing the three peas with the three pea boxes.
No collection could be complete without a stitched Pea Pod needle case created with a pulled stitch mimicking three tiny peas.

Your kit will include all the supplies needed to stitch and assemble the Princessa and Pea project alone with detailed pictures and instructions.

Optional items:
Scrimshaw thread winder and ruler available for purchase.
Wooden pea thread holder

Princessa and the Pea Class- $360 with a  deposit of $185. This includes a room for one night at the Lankford Hotel (where the classes are held),  continental breakfast the day of the class along with lunch, plus the kit.

Mexican Purse............Class...............Betsy Morgan

Mexican Purse-  This.design is a Mexican stitcher's purse.  Its full name is "Maria Katarin's Stitching Reticule".  It is named for our adopted daughter, Caitie, who is part Mexican.  The various motifs and techniques used in this purse were inspired by an 1844 sampler from Pachuca, Mexico which is in my collection.

When folded closed, the reticule measures 4 x 8 inches.  It is stitched on light mocha Belfast linen using Gloriana silk flosses and is lined in olive silk Dupioni.  Inside there are 3 small pockets for
holding your small needlework tools including two of the smalls in this design - a scissor fob and a thread winder.  The reticule also includes a 5 inch stitched ruler.

Stitches include: Aztec, eyelet, diagonal pattern darning, pulled four sided, long arm cross, diagonal satin, Mexican klosters, satin, rice, upright cross, cross over one and cross over two.

..This is a pre-stitch class. The cost for this class is $300.00. with a deposit of  $125.00

Pioneer Girl Sampling Book......Class..........Betsy Morgan

June 3-5, 2016-It's always exciting to welcome Betsy Morgan back to teach her wonderful designs.

Pioneer Girl Sampling Book... This class was inspired by a book called "Pioneer Memorial Museum Samplers" and was written by Loree Romriell.  Betsy has turned her vision of the samplers in the book, into a book.  The outside cover of the book is loosely based on a very simple sampler in the collection which is worked on "training cloth", which was made in an effort to assist young girls in stitching in nice neat rows.  The cloth is made by removing every tenth linen ground thread and weaving a colored thread back in so that it looks like modern day school notebook paper.  Students will do this as part of the project.

Inside the book, instead of pages, there are two boxes which hold smalls - a scissor pouch and fob and two thread winders.  The spine of the book is a pin roll and one of the inside box lids has a wool felt needle page attached to its lining.  The project was stitched on Platinum Belfast linen which I distressed after all of the embroidery was completed, to give it the worn and stained appearance of most of the original samplers.  Students may follow my lead on this or choose to leave theirs in pristine condition.

All of the motifs used were inspired and adapted from the samplers in the museum collection except the bee hive.  I felt that the design needed one since the bees and the hive, symbols of industriousness, are the symbols of the state of Utah.

This is a pre-stitch class. The cost for the weekend, which includes lodging for 2 nights, breakfast for 2 days, lunch on Saturday and the class kit is $325.00- Deposit for class is $150.00.

Joy to Ewe........................................Shepherd's Bush

So cute for the holidays, and the good news is the chart is free when you purchase the hat button.  We also have the 18 ct. linen and fibers to complete this project packed up and ready to ship out as well.  When stitched on the 18ct. the approx. finished size is  only about 3.5" x 4.5", but the pillow measures approx. 11" x 8" so it's a nice size pillow.  It would also look cute finished as a bag front with greens, etc. stuck in it.  But this would also be cute done on a smaller count, 28 or 32 and then framed.  This is a fast stitch, one night or two nights tops.  Great gift for Christmas
