Thou God Seest Me...Heartstring Samplery

Beth came up with the idea for this sampler after admiring an antique sampler with those words on it.  . So many school girls back a few hundred years ago spent their learning hours working long poems and scripture, mostly dealing with the shortness of life and the aspiration to be devout. This sampler had all of those sentiments boiled down into four simple words that reflect the entirety of the Gospel of grace. She filed it away and when searching for inspiration dug into a folder holding pictures and discovered it again.  This little sampler doesn’t resemble that early design in the slightest, other than the use of the words, but she hopes you will enjoy the combination of words, house and bands as much as she enjoyed the creation of it.  The design is shown stitched over 2 on 28 ct. linen which she coffee stained using CC Cinnamon Toast, Hazelnut: GA Brethren Blue, Caramel Corn,, Endive, Ruby Slipper and WDW Palomino.  A conversion to DMC also included.  Finished size is approx. 6.5" x 6.25" when stitched over 2.

Rachael Holmes.................Heartstring Samplery

As usual, Beth was inspired by an old sampler.  This particular old sampler was from the latter half of the 1800’s, and was almost entirely stitched in bands and sections of patterns and vines. Beth wanted a sampler that wasn't so heavy on lettering and quotes, instead focusing on repeated patterned bands. The type of bands that could be used to decorate linens and frocks, and to otherwise make regular household items more appealing. The model is stitched on 32 ct. over-dyed linen and uses  WDW Honeysuckle, Dover, Guacamole, Pecan, Havana, Mocha, Bark, Red Pear, Raspberry, Deep Sea, Bullfrog and Curry.  The design size is approx. 10" x 12.5".

Queen Bee Pincushion................Heartstring Samplery

This little pincushion is Beth's ode to the Queen bee, who some would say is the slave of the Worker Bees, and some would say is the Ruler of the entire Colony. Either way, she is always, without exception, a remarkable creature, capable of choosing what the hive needs most (Workers or Drones), and laying eggs to fulfill that need.  The pincushion was stitched over two on R & R's 40 ct. Patriot's Brew using Classic Colorworks: Blue Corn, Tennessee Red Clay, Honeycomb, Hazelnut: The Gentle Art: Endive, Maple Syrup and Weeks Dye Works: Grasshopper, Cayenne, Molasses, Grits.  The finished size is approx. 2.75"in diameter.  To finish she used Lone Elm's 4" round pincushion base in Timber Brown Lady Dot's Mother Lode Gold in Rick Rack and Lady Dot's Mini Pom in Sandy Gold.

Cloverly's Bunny Bungalow.....................Just Nan

Just Nan's latest mouse in a house has arrived....and while Cloverly may be late for this Easter, you certainly could start her now and have her done by Easter 2019.  Cloverly Bunny lives in the little bungalow you see and you may also note that there are many bunnies living with her who are peeking out of windows and can be seen hopping in the gardens around the house and I believe I see one behind a flower pot, or should I say carrot pot as that is what Cloverly is growing.  In fact carrots are everywhere here...the door handle is also a carrot.  It's the detail on the bunny bungalow which make it come alive for you.  And Cloverly is not outshined by her bungalow, she is adorned with a long stem rosebud just picked from her garden and has a fluffy tail.  Her dress has a cute border of clover...she's just the perfect inhabitant for the bungalow.  The chart comes with a  stitch guide, the embellishments include ribbon, pink felt. cardboard house pieces, beads, pompom tail, Nan's signature mouse button base, and rosebud.  Not included are the fibers, DMC B5200, 210, 310, 646, 704, 801, 930, 931, 932, 3345, 33416, 3347, 3687, 3688, 3689, 3752, 3837, 3853, 3855, 3862, 3863, 3864-32 ct. Flowers of the Holy Night....................Glendon Place

Dr. Joel Roberta Poinsett, an amateur botanist and first United States Ambassador to Mexico, introduced the plant that became known as the poinsettia to the United States in 1828.  A native of southern Mexico, the poinsettia blooms in December and has  been used in that country to decorate churches for centuries.  Many consider the red color a symbol of purity and so poinsetties were traditionally part of religious ceremonies.  Many also believe that the shape of the poinsettia flowers and the leaves are a symbol of the Star of Bethlehem which led the Wise Men to Jesus.  In Mexico and Guatemala, the poinsettia is called "Flores de Noche Buena", which translates to "Flower of the Holy Night."  It is shown stitched on 28 ct. Antique White Jobelan and the design size is approx. 16 1/4" x 16 3/4" and is stitched with  Stitched using Dinky Dyes, Gum Leave, Madi's Rose, Ocean Pines, Pindi, Pistachio and Heartthrob.  Also uses Mill Hill Beads, 00145, 00148, 00525, 02055, 02097, 03041, 03049 and Mill Hill Treasures 12147 (7) and 12210

Thistle Do Nicely...............Glendon Place

Simple yet elegant, thistles have  long been the floral emblem of what was once the Kingdom of Scotland.  The characteristics of the flower holds symbolism from more than one perspective.  The flower itself is a symbol of an enlightened person, a person who has gained their crown.  Because the flower head is purple, there is added power in its symbolism.  The color purple has long been a sign of royalty, high rank, justice, wealth and dignity.  The thistle is also an ancient Celtic symbol of nobility of character and birth.  Taken from an old Irish Blessing about shamrocks, the designer has modified this blessing as a tribute to Scotland and the mighty thistle.  The model is stitched on 28 ct. White Jobelan and she has used Dinky Dyes Ocean Pines, Lilac, Jindabyne, Spearmint, Bunya Cone, and Your Majesty; DMC B5200 and 500 and Mill Hill Beads 00479, 02009, 02031, 03053 and Kreinik #4 008HL (Green Hi Lustre).  Finished size is approx. 14 1/2" x 9 3/4"

Once again Marie has designed the cutest elves ever with so much detail, including 3'dimensional gold rimmed glasses that you can't help but fall in love with them.  She has also  decided to cross stitch this pattern twice over 2 threads to show different possibilities to embellish this pattern with all the bells and whistles (using Wisper for the beard and Memory thread for the glasses, and Artic Rays in the hat),  to the basic cross stitch.  The smaller ornament was stitched over one thread to give you a comparison between the two sizes. You may wish to use her suggestions or you might have a different idea, either this will be a fun stitch. Stitched on  32 ct.
